Here are two songs by Berlin based Rock band Random. We did the songs in 2007. Band leader Paul Eisenach, singer Giséle and I sat down and produced the songs. I mainly did the drums and the arrangement and it was later mastered by Dj Malik (Clueso). Scratches were made by Dj Mawdee & some by Dj Madsen. >> The band played live bass, keys and the horns section. Me and Paul recorded the drums in Timm "Timbo" Schreiner's studio. Timm plays in my band (A-Scholars / check out our album that I uploaded a few weeks ago).
This film – loosely based around Almaz’s cover of Kraftwerk’s “The Model” - captures Jorge as he delves into his subconscious to examine the figure of a recurring dream: a woman - a model - who taunts and arouses; comforts and scares; perplexes and completes him. Presented by Now-Again Records and What Matters Most; exclusively (with an interview by Jorge) available at IFC.com
Listen to these good songs by New Zealand based MC David Dallas.
Sounds extremely fresh after listening (or not) to too many artists who sound like kanye West, B.o.B, Lil Wayne or Drake everywhere around the internet. I believe that it is extremely important for an artist to sound unique and I think the two songs I've heard so far were great enough to say that this guy has his own style.
In 2008 we created a triple 12-inch box set, all based around our Miami Winter Music party Hella International. Parra did the sleeve. Madlib's remixes of two J Dilla tracks from Ruff Draft, "The $" and "Make 'em NV" appear here exclusively. Many of the other tracks – collabs between artists like Dam Funk & Baron Zen, Four Tet & Aloe Blacc, Percee P & Koushik, Madlib & Karriem Riggins (as Supreme Team) - also appear here first, and were later released the Chrome Children Vol. 2 CD. This remains the only vinyl release for most of these tracks.
This was a limited-edition release in 2008, and we only have a few copies now. We hope you enjoy it.

My grandmother's sister (great aunt) co-manages this private-community run orphanage with 625 children of all ages, and 52 babies (March 2010) in Nyundo, Kigali. I remember the days when my parents and I visited the children before 1994.
The orphanage is the largest in Rwanda. It has its own micro-infrastructure including a kitchen which provides food for all 625 children & staff members, a school, a hospital, cultivated fields for potatoes and vegetables and a farm to raise cattle, pigs and goats. It's been a while but god to see that Bilal managed to release another record. I pre-listened to the album at universal.com awhile ago and I have to give it another listen before I can tell you my opinion.
Here is "Runaway" live from Abbey Road. This live version is ridiculous. If these guys are in town to perform and you are not there, then you are MISSING a once in a live time experience. period.
I know my girl likes to see me in regular fit jeans sometimes. Once you try to wear the right size of your jeans, it's a total different experience. Thanks to my girl, I found my right size half a year ago. lol I still prefer them loose fit, though.
After reading a couple of blog posts on yur boys favorite blogs, I finally found this amazing piece of audiovisual. Blu is one of the artist I truly respect. #authenticrapmusic
If I can do anything to help you promote your music hit me up ZO! This is excellent soul music. The whole album is simply amazing. Trust me, if you like Neo Soul music, go get a copy at your local record store tomorrow. You won't regret it!
Lost and found. I guess that is how I would describe this important piece of music. To make it short: Live at Café Haag was recorded on the 20th of Januar 2006. Back then we used to have a session once a week, played a couple of gigs and were even offered to play a tour in Germany. However, around this time we all were focused on our studies and I moved to east Germany and later to Finland. Live at Café Haag shows only a fragment of what we did and I believe that each one of us shares the same thought: we've got to sit down, write and record an album.
enjoy!

Every time I visit my folks in Southern Germany, I meet up with Portformat (Ibrahim M’Bodji), a music producer with Senegalese and German roots, whom I have known for almost four years, for drinks and serious conversations about life, the world and of course music. I remember very well when he told me that he was going to have a feature with Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow on his debut album titled The Repeat Factor. I knew that it was going to be a banger back then, but when he played the song for me the first time I was thrilled. Take a listen to the , below.
If you like what you hear and you enjoy the “NASA-compatible Hip Hop Funkadelica” sound then make sure you cop the album (Tokyo Dawn Records). Download link and track list after the jump…

I am honored to announce my first official blog post on www.Okayafrica.com (OKA) .
I'm sure you guys want to know how this happened, right? well, as I was doing some marketing for my current release "Born in the Land of a Thousand Hills" (www.mishoothedrumkit.com). I tried to get in touch with okayafrica and thought that they might be interested in what I do. I sent an e-mail with all press information and four months later I received a reply. They liked what I do and asked me if I liked to write for okayafrica and have my own blog. I was very surprised. A few emails later, I received the writers instructions and wrote my first post about my man Portformat. They posted it on the first of September 2010. Thank you for supporting the Afro and Afreuropean movement okayplayer!

Nowadays other artists such as Kanye West, Flying Lotus, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi,Wale and more are supported by Okayplayer.com

Very professional work right there. I almost feel every one of the 52 instrumentals on this release. That's exactly my type of sound.
Midway Limited Edition Digipak 15€. Digital album 10€!
Freddie's Note:
Midway is a collection of instrumentals that i have been working on for the past year and half (or so). Because a lot of music styles inspire me, i just wanted to present my range as a hip hop/soul producer, not just with this album, but also me as a producer in general. I’ll continue to release free music and mixes, so please support by purchasing this album, and future albums when they become available.
I found this link while surfing through one of my favorite blogs about fashion titled www.hypebeast.com. If you are a fashion lover like my girl, then you definitely should check out the links. Get the link and more information after the jump.
How did we arrive at the 99 blogs listed? We started with an index of more than 500 fashion blogs and beauty blogs from around the world - some from first hand knowledge, others discovered from countless hours of following blogrolls, network publisher listings and links left in comments. After eliminating the ones that were abandoned or infrequently updated, we calculated data, did some math and assigned a score representative of general content quality, popularity and buzz. The 99 most influential blogs span multiple categories: from the street and personal style of trendsetters around the world, to behind the curtain looks at the people who create and shape the fashion industry - and of course the bloggers who stay on top of who's wearing what, and where to buy it. Are these the best fashion blogs? Best is subjective, but it's certainly the best measure of global style influence to date.
My girl hooked me up with some Japanese Soul this evening, and I must say it sounds good though. Feeling it. Here is "Love Space" by Tatsuro Yamashita with a smooth sundae tune!
Read this very interesting article about how our language shapes our experience of the world. It explains why certain languages make you feel, think and therefore act differently. I would say, it's a must read if you are interested in marketing.
Here is an excerpt:
A German bridge is feminine (die Brücke), for instance, but el puente is masculine in Spanish; and the same goes for clocks, apartments, forks, newspapers, pockets, shoulders, stamps, tickets, violins, the sun, the world and love. On the other hand, an apple is masculine for Germans but feminine in Spanish, and so are chairs, brooms, butterflies, keys, mountains, stars, tables, wars, rain and garbage. When speakers were asked to grade various objects on a range of characteristics, Spanish speakers deemed bridges, clocks and violins to have more “manly properties” like strength, but Germans tended to think of them as more slender or elegant. With objects like mountains or chairs, which are “he” in German but “she” in Spanish, the effect was reversed.
In a different experiment, French and Spanish speakers were asked to assign human voices to various objects in a cartoon. When French speakers saw a picture of a fork (la fourchette), most of them wanted it to speak in a woman’s voice, but Spanish speakers, for whom el tenedor is masculine, preferred a gravelly male voice for it. More recently, psychologists have even shown that “gendered languages” imprint gender traits for objects so strongly in the mind that these associations obstruct speakers’ ability to commit information to memory.
Amazing production, great song and now guess whose live show is a must see! To all the ladies who love the chingalings and don't believe in their men. well... ya'll know the answer by now. :P Ceelo is the man!
Now That is quality music..... Melanie Fiona is fire and common who is one of my favorite mcs does a real good job on the feature. kinda reminds me of Common's "Retrospective for life" when he starts to rap. I have to go see them perform when the album comes out!
I have so much love for the new album by The Roots. To be honest, I haven't listened to such a great album for at least a few months. The last album with an extra portion of soul was "Return of the Ankh" by Erykah Badu.
Here is a funny marketing campaign with ex Bayern Munich manager Uli Hoeneß. Hoeneß is also inventor of the "Nürnburger" and managing director of the HoWe Nürnberger Bratwurst GmbH. His "Nürnburger" will be available in Germany in a big fast food chain starting from the 05th of July.
More videos at http://www.ulis-nuernburger.de/ & a great blog about sausages called http://www.wurstblog.de/. I think my German readers will have fun watching the clips.
Rest in peace Keenan Milton & Harold Hunter. My man Dominic and I were there when Keenan switch k-grinded a European rail in Stuttgart. Keenan drowned at a Independence day party and died on the 5th of July 2010. He was known for his Nollie and switch tricks and his amazing style. Keenan was 26 years old when he died.
If you haven't heard of Shad, please take your time and let his music reflect you. Believe me, I don't only support his music because he's a native Rwandan, but also because of his skills as an artist. His brilliantly witty word play and his delivery are on point. Don't sleep on this talented man!
"I'll never understand" includes poetry written by his mother Bernadette Kabango. The describes the Rwanda genocide which took place in the early 90s.
My man eQ sent me a pre release version of his album "Persona", two days ago. I immediately downloaded the album and bumped it into my tape deck (I mean PC). eQ's sound is top notch! the vibes are soulful and the drums are crisp. Release date is June 26th on iTunes. He might get it pressed on 12" as well so stay tuned and grab all material you can get! Trust me!
i love doin these instrumental tapes, and will continue to do so...all i ask is that people support and buy my lp! all money i earn will go into new equipment so i can make better tunes for yall! - eQ
I'm proud to announce the release of my home made music video for "Still calling you". It was fun to try out new things and to come up with some decent results. I did everything by myself. Once i have enough money to spend, I would love to work with some of the crazy talented cinematography artists out there.
For the first time in my life I will charge for my music. The song titled "Still Calling You", is a remix of "The Call". "The Call" was originally produced by Hub Daviz and was part of the Born in The Land Of A Thousand Hills EP (Available at www.mishoothedrumkit.com ). "Still Calling You" was produced by Stevo. It includes Shout outs and is meant to be played in your car's sound system after work.
Stevo and I will get a 100% of the revenues. Basically, if you pay 1€: Stevo gets 50 cents and I get
50 cents per download. I think you deserve to know where the money goes. Can't wait to see how it works. I'll be happy with a total share of 5 €uros, so I can buy two Ice-cream cones for me and my wife. :)
My dear readers,
Please excuse my absence. I've had my wedding on Friday may 7th in Germany and I simply had no time to write and blog post. The wedding was amazing and I am a proud husband to a wonderful, beautiful and intelligent woman. :)
This wouldn't have been as beautiful as it was, without the support of our families and friends. Marina and I thank you for all the love.
I still can't believe it. Guru was like a ... it's so difficult to describe but one thing is for sure, I became who I am today also thanks to Guru's music. A legend has left us and he will be truly missed by millions of fans throughout the world. Love

"Buffolo Gals" by Malcolm McLaren off of »Duck Rock« released in 1983.
"Buffolo Gals" was the first chart hit which included scratching/cuts. McLaren shot the video together with the Rock Steady Crew, the World Famous Supreme Team and Graffiti-artist Keith Haring.
He died of a rare form of cancer called Mesothelioma, yesterday.
Rest in Peace!
Wow! Great work! That looks like it took years to finish it.
This video is by Mayer Hawthorne. I was lucky to skate on Pier 7 before they blocked the curbs. That was back in 1998 or 1999. I remember, i bought an expedition board and went to check the spot and I saw Karl Watson, a legendary skateboarder.
Great picture, amazing song! I met Miles Bonny when I was a young back in 2002 (I just said hello because he knew my friends but I did not know who he was). I remember one song from his crew which I loved to listen to. The song title was "Peter Pan" by Sounds Good. Anyway, Dope music in the making right there. I also met Suff Deezy virtually on MySpace two years ago and the brother is cool. Support good music and the Berlin - Kansas City connection!
